Benalup
is just under one hour’s drive from Tarifa. Take the N.340 direction
Cadiz, pass a turning to Vejer on your left, and shortly thereafter
you take the turning to Medina Sidonia on your right. It is a total
of 20 minutes from here to the Golf course. After some 8 minutes driving,
turn right to Benalup (clearly indicated). This is a lovely, usually
empty country road. As you go up the slight hill to Benalup, there is
a turning right marked Campo de Golf. Follow the signs, a poor road
(at present, April 2007) takes you downhill, and a sharp turn right
up the hill to the present parking for this new Golf course and Fairplay
Golf Hotel. Benalup golf is in a stunning location (can be VERY windy
if the Levante is roaring across the vast expanses of empty farmland).

They have an interesting offer (see Rates, below). 9 or 18 holes, including
lunch which is a delicious three course set-menu – you have two
choices for each course (Belgian chef, open kitchen, wonderful views).
Wines or other drinks and coffee included.
The kitchen is open for lunch from 12.00 hrs to 17.00 hrs. The course
itself is interesting and challenging. Although there are now a lot
of villas built around this course, I have never found it crowded or
had people in front and behind me, so find it very relaxing.

About Zoë
and her guesthouse
Zoë
is the owner of Guesthouse Dar Cilla which is unique of its sort in Tarifa.
It is located on the outskirts of the old town within the old 12th century walls.
'Dar' is an Arabic word for a town house in which a series of suites are grouped
around a central courtyard. Each suite is fully independent, but there is a
pleasant air of 'sociability' and you will meet Zoë and fellow guests on
the roof terrace over a glass of wine.
