About Tarifa Holidays

How Tarifa Holidays was born...

A day in May 2004 –The Netherlands. Martina and Barry - received a call. If they could deliver a sculpture to a couple in The Hague – Netherlands who were leaving for Tarifa Spain.

The couple – Jolanda and Peter – had sold up and were moving to Spain and had a removal company to move their furniture. Zoë - who was already living in Tarifa and has a boutique hotel/guesthouse named Dar Cilla - bought a sculpture from Martina’s mother Ineke which had to be moved to Spain. There was still a little space left in Jolanda and Peter’s removal truck so they agreed to take it for her.

That day the four of us met for the first time. Jolanda and Peter were telling us about their plans and on the way back home we were dreaming about doing the same. Selling up and leave for Spain.

2 weeks later we received a call from Zoë whether we would fancy a 4 day trip to Tarifa to relax and to see her Guesthouse. We stayed in Dar Cilla and loved every single minute of our short break. After talking late nights with some bottles of Rioja Zoë asked Martina if she would like to run her guesthouse. 14 days later we left our house and took the plane to Spain.

In the meantime Jolanda and Peter were settling into their new live. Peter working at the Hurricane hotel – one of Tarifa’s most popular hotels - and Jolanda running Cortijo El Aquilon – an upmarket farmhouse with 7 suits in the countryside outside Tarifa. She now uses El Aquilon among others to organise weddings - www.wedding-in-tarifa.com and the villa is also for rent for your holidays.
Barry did a project on Montenmedio Golf and Country Club on improving the service level, internal communications and marketing.

While living in Tarifa many friends and family visited the four. They helped everybody with searching for the best accommodation, the cheapest car rental, the best kiteschools, where they could go horse riding, which restaurants they would recommend, which guide they should use for their trip to Morocco and so on.

Until one day they got together - as usual - and said:

“What if we would use all these experiences we have had with friends and family for everybody who likes to spend their holidays in Tarifa.”

And so Tarifa Holidays was born…

Hope to see you in Tarifa,

Team Tarifa Holidays
