Cortijo El Aguilon is one of the most exclusive villas in Tarifa. Cortijo El Aguilon was built as a family home only 20 years ago but you can now rent the entire house for long weekends or full weeks.
It is incredible how the owners have managed to give the place a feeling as it has been there for at least a century. The house was built around the full size snooker table in the basement, which is now a cosy games room, a wine cellar and home cinema.

Once you take the turn-off for El Aguilon – which is 10 minutes from Tarifa – you enter a private gravel driveway with around 50 palm trees leading you to the house. A wooden gate in the Spanish style makes you feel like entering an old Spanish farmhouse. Behind this door lies one of the best kept secret places of Tarifa.

The rich and famous have stayed here and it rapidly becomes clear why they have chosen this little paradise. The courtyard complete with palm trees and 2 storey high banana plants is welcoming you to spend your stay in pure and honest luxury.

The central area is and always has been the kitchen. You will soon find yourself wandering into the kitchen as it was your own but with always someone on hand should you need help finding the lemons for your gin and tonic. The tradition is set for tea time with home made tortilla and probably the best brownies you have ever had.

The dining room is adjoining the kitchen and breaths an English country style atmosphere. As through the whole house the deco is a perfect mixture of Spanish antiques, an exotic touch here and there and beautiful pieces of craftsmanship from nearby Morocco - this in combination with comfortable sofas and reading chairs all resting on a manually renovated mahogany parquet floor.

The sitting room invites to read or chat in front of the fire place drinking a good glass Rioja. Lots of interesting reading material and an antique card game table might enable you to resist the temptation of lowering the stairs and spend a night in the games room.

Picture yourself in a cigar room in one of the better gentlemen’s society clubs complete with full size snooker table and you can imagine what you will find in this room. There are no TV’s in the house so should you feel like spending a night watching a movie then the home cinema is the place for that night.

When waking up in the morning you may want to choose the courtyard on the kitchen site to enjoy your breakfast. With the morning sun colouring the countryside in front of the terrace this is a good place to start thinking about your options on how to spend the day and there are plenty.

When you feel like relaxing you could opt for The La Stone Therapy. This is a full body treatment using special massage techniques and warm oils and involves the use of heated basalt stones as well as cooled marble stones (thermotherapy). The stones are applied to the body in various ways to bring about relief to stiff and sore muscles.

If this is not pure enough go to a unique spot on a nearby beach where you can have lots of fun covering yourself from head to toe in a natural mud bath. It feels fantastic to use the real thing and your skin feels a million dollars when you jump into the waves and wash it all off!

You have nearly unlimited choices If you want to spent - some of your days - more active. If you are into horses the luxurious onsite stables with handsome Andalucian horses and surrounding Natural Park - guarantee some a superb riding experience.

Take the route using the cork-cutters' tracks through the woods and old smugglers' trails down to the beach. Have a picnic under the trees for lunch or at a little tapas bar on the beach.

Play tennis on the all-weather outdoor tennis court behind the house finding yourself surrounded by over 200 palm trees and some beautiful countryside.

If this didn't make you sweat enough you can always use the Turkish bath to blow off some more steam after which you can take a dive in one of the 2 swimming pools.

As you can see you don't have to leave the estate to be active but should you feel like practising some water sports, Valdevaqueros, Tarifa's hot spot for Kite and wind surfing is only 5 minutes away.

Villas in Tarifa - Cortijo El Aguilon has 7 rooms. Although Tarifa enjoys an almost perfect climate, all bedrooms have air-conditioning, and for those cool winter nights, you will enjoy the benefits of under floor heating.
There are four rooms upstairs in the main house, two on the outside wing and a new addition, upstairs at the back of the house with its own private entry.
